[Food Review] Miri Mary: Exploring Amsterdam's Modern Indian Fusion

One day at the office, we were discussing the best Indian restaurants. I received several recommendations about a particular place. I searched for it on Google and found numerous ads on Google Maps, making it easy to locate. However, booking a table proved to be impossible. They were fully booked for the entire weekend. After multiple attempts, I managed to get through via phone, but only after calling six times. Eventually, they informed me that they could arrange a bar area for my group. Consequently, we secured a spot at the bar for Friday evening. For further details, please refer to the YouTube video below. The place is situated near the De Pijp area and offers a few outdoor seating options. During my phone conversation with them, they mentioned that they could arrange outdoor seating if the weather was pleasant. However, we opted for indoor seating since the weather was still quite chilly. Nevertheless, it's worth noting that outdoor seating is available. When eve...

[Food Review] Bar Bouwmeester - A Decent and Cozy Breakfast Place Close to Victoriaplein

This is a funny story, but I hadn't used a key for several decades. One of the big culture shocks after arriving in Amsterdam was encountering keys for doors and gates. In Asia, we typically use a number pad or fingerprint recognition to enter houses. When my family visited, everybody was confused, and on the last day, a big event occurred. The door was locked with the key inside. I called a locksmith, but he was fully booked, so I had to stay at my friend's place and went to breakfast with him. We first attempted to go to a Moroccan breakfast place, which I had randomly received a recommendation for from a Moroccan Uber driver. However, it was closed for the day. So, we swiftly opted for another place with very favorable Google reviews.  As you can discern from the menu, the prices for the all-day breakfast were not typical of Amsterdam, although the pictures on the Google reviews appeared quite enticing. [Food Review] Coulisse - Creative Cuisine, Awarded Its First Michelin Star in 2023

Last year, after the Michelin Guide announced its star ratings for 2023, a friend of mine visited Coulisse and raved about it. Intrigued by their recommendation and with a free day in my schedule, I decided to pay the restaurant a visit myself. The visit took place last October, and I regretfully forgot to share it earlier, so this post is a bit belated. For a more detailed look at the courses served at Coulisse, you can check out their direct explanation on the YouTube video above. Coulisse embraces the concept of 'Easy Fine Dining,' making their lunch menu surprisingly approachable for a Michelin-starred restaurant, priced at 80 euros. When I dined there, the lunch menu still retained its reasonable price tag of 65 euros, offering seven distinct courses. Additionally, I had the option to add an extra course for just 18.5 euros. Since I was planning to visit Alba for white truffles, I decided to forgo adding truffle to my dish at Coulisse. Instead, I opted for Turbot from t...

[Food Review] Bistrot des Alpes: Fondue, Raclette and Gratin from Haute Savoie.

Situated in a quiet back alley in the De Weteringschan district of Amsterdam, closer to Frederiksplein, Bistrot des Alpes has been one of the most talked-about bistros in Amsterdam since its opening in 2015. It was also reviewed by the Gault et Millau guide and garnered 13 points from the review The bistrot offers traditional dishes from the Haute Savoie region of France, known for its cheese fondue, raclette, and tartiflette. As you can see in the picture, the restaurant is decorated like a chalet from the French Alps, with wooden and copper elements. As soon as you step into the place, you feel like you've teleported to a small chalet in France, no longer in Amsterdam. I started the dinner with a Crémant from Savoie by Cave du Prieuré. It was a bit fruity and slightly more on the acidic side; the wine had a creamy texture with smooth bubbles. As a welcoming treat, we were served Gougère, a French savory choux pastry made with choux dough mixed...
