[Food Review] Casa Infante: De Pjip's New Italian Gelato Parlor from Naples

One day, my Dutch friend told me about a new and interesting Italian Gelato place that had just opened up right next to Da Michele pizzeria in De Pijp. De Pijp has been the area that Massimo Gelato has dominated for years, but interestingly, they opened up a gelato place just a few blocks away. For more details, please find my YouTube video below. Casa Infante was initially opened in 1940 in Naples by Leopoldo Infante, the namesake of the establishment. Expanding from Naples to Milan, they subsequently opened a branch in Amsterdam. From the exterior, it resembles more of a high-end pastry shop than a traditional gelateria. Situated adjacent to Da Michele Pizzeria and across from the actual pastry shop, My Little Patisserie, it gives off more of a patisserie vibe than its neighboring counterpart when viewed solely through the showcase window. When looking at the pastries, they filled the shelves with popular items from all over the world. Of course, there were macarons, maritozzi,...

[Food Review] Ladybird Fried Chicken - a casual American-style Fried Chicken eatery that opens until 11 PM (Thur - Mon)

If you're roaming around Amsterdam searching for a late-night snack, you'll quickly realize that Amsterdam is not LA nor Hong Kong. You won't be able to end your night with a visit to BCD Tofu House or Sun Hing for dim sum. However, if you consider 10 PM a late-night option, then the story changes a bit. There are few things in the world more satisfying than indulging in some fried chicken, especially late at night. For southern American-style fried chicken, we already have Biscuit Baby on Overtoom, straight out of North Carolina. For De Pijp, we have Ladybird, which claims to offer " a New York approach to the Southern kitchen. " Nestled away in De Pijp, Ladybird Fried Chicken can get pretty crowded, with people lining up outside the eatery. Stepping into this small place after 9 PM feels like you've walked into a small fried chicken joint close to your university. Ladybird's menu features some unique offeri...

Food Review: Romios Griekse Taverna - Great Greek experience in De Pijp

I have never been to Greece, so I cannot speak to what authentic Greek cuisine looks like. However, I have fond memories of the food. When I was 18, I visited Belgium and my friend treated me to Gyros and Pitta at a Greek restaurant. Since then, whenever I think about Greek food, the good memory resurfaces. After arriving in the Netherlands, I always wanted to try Greek cuisine. Maybe it was due to its proximity to Belgium. One day, I made up my mind and looked for a Greek restaurant. A few options in the city popped up, one of which was Romio's. However, I found out that they were always super busy and did not take any reservations. So, I went there at 2 PM to avoid the crowd. Unfortunately, my strategy didn't work out well. Even at 2 PM, the restaurant was completely full, and I couldn't get a table. Then, a kind lady told me that she could give me a table after around 20 to 25 minutes. So, I told them that I would be back and left for My little pa...
